Understanding How LumiSmart Works
LumiSmart ILC modifies the sine-wave by inserting pulses from the trailing edge; this provides maximum power reduction for a wide array of lighting systems. LumiSmart inserts on/off pulses into the power delivered to the ballast (sine-wave), thereby reducing the power consumed by downstream lights. Pulse insertion occurs in such rapid succession that the ballast believes it is still receiving full and continuous power while it is operating in a power reduced state.Waveform Modification

IGBT-Based Design
LumiSmart will not produce any mechanical buzz typical of Silicon Rectifier (SCR) or transformer-based solutions. LumiSmart actively regulates both the VOLTAGE and the CURRENT supplied to its load. LumiSmart reduces cold current inrush and can extend lamp life by precisely controlling the amount of current supplied. All phase control-power reduction systems generate harmonic currents. Excess harmonic currents can overload neutral conductors and overheat service transformers. LumiSmart's IGBT-based design features an operating mode that limits harmonic currents and reduces the noise produced by the power shaping system.

LumiSmart ILC is compatible with leading fluorescent systems including T5, T8, T12,electronic and magnetic ballasts (single phase or multiphase). The LumiSmart ILC functions on both 50Hz and 60Hz electrical systems and provides automated voltage selection for 100v, 120v, 230/240v, 277v, 347v on 15Amp or 20Amp circuits. The product provides power savings by altering the power waveform and then applies adaptive power factor correction.
